The Rotaract Club Amsterdam Nachtwacht International is proud to be collaborating with the Rotaract Club of Pashupati-Kathmandu in Nepal for our international project. The thought of working together was inspired by the fact that our current member is originally from Nepal and his support in the coordination of the idea during a visit back home.
The Rotaract Club Amsterdam Nachtwacht International has been focusing humanitarian efforts on projects related to supporting underprivileged children in the 2015/2016 year, including within our international project. Together with our fellow Rotaractors in Nepal, we have begun to form a relationship with Janta Dhan Higher Secondary School, Baleba, Parbat, Nepal. This school provides education to both blind children and adults, especially focusing on teaching them computer skills which can be beneficial when entering the local workforce. In June 2016, our club put on a fundraising event, touring the city by boat with a group of 50 friends which raised enough funds for the purchase of the first computer to be donated to the Janta Dhan Secondary School as well as support some hours of computer skill training for the current students. Our clubs plan to continue to work together to build a strong relationship with the school and support them in continuing to educate blind children and adults in the future.
